Hey, Hammock Lovers!

Here at Everything Summer Camp, we’re extremely excited to now be carrying the brilliant hammocks from the awesome brand name ENO—Eagles Nest Outfitters. It was 20 years ago that the Pinholster brothers co-founded this incredibly successful and recognizable brand name. To go back and look at the rocky start they had, it’s surprising that this brand ever lasted more than a few years!

Pete and Paul started out in the summer of 1999 selling their hammocks out of the back of a minivan at popular music festivals. They did pretty well for such a rickety beginning and it wasn’t long before they were able to acquire an office to conduct their business apart from their van operation. Things were going well but good fortune took a sudden nosedive when an office fire destroyed their entire inventory as well as all their confidence in ever growing the ENO brand.

“It was heartbreaking,” Pete has commented. “We were tempted to give up, call it a loss and move on, but we realized we had started something, maybe something small, but it was gaining support. We moved to Asheville and decided to give it another try.”

So, incredibly, these determined brothers moved past the destruction of their strong start and started again. “We are extremely fortunate for our faithful supporters,” Paul pointed out. “They have really been the catalyst for our growth since the beginning. Our customers inspire us to continue developing the best products to help them relax and enjoy their surroundings.”

Since then, the Pete and Paul Pinholster have incredibly brought their company back with a vengeance! Its name recognition has skyrocketed in the last few years especially and their product quality is unmatched. I’m thrilled to reveal a brand name that we’re very excited to have brought to our online store! Osprey is Pack manufacturer that’s been designing and constructing inventive and premium packs since 1974! Their unflinching dedication to backpacks, duffels, and nothing else but pack accessories has allowed them the capability to focus and really hone in on the perfect craft of their pack construction! With a solid history, you can be sure that Osprey has perfected their methods throughout their past 45 years of business. The brand sprouted all those years ago from the desire of one person—Osprey’s founder—to manufacture and utilize functional and secure packs. When he brought his dream to life, Mike Pfotenhauer, insisted that his packs would be made more comfortable, durable, and practical than the other packs on the market.

Named after a large bird of prey also known as a River or Fish Hawk, the Osprey brand plays off the ready-to-travel, lightweight, and sizable characteristics of the raptor itself to play up the features of these innovative packs! Mike ensured only the best quality for his products from the get-go by personally stitching the first lines of custom-fitted packs!

As he grew the Osprey name, his team expanded into a collection of enthusiastic explorers and diligent workers of diverse qualities who all bring something exclusive to contribute. Mike was able to move into the designing department and put together a crew of skilled sewing operators who construct the packs.

Located in Cortez, Colorado, the folks are hard at work, though everyone in this pocket of the world has adopted a slower pace. Still, the landscapes of Osprey’s home base begs onlookers to come explore—the San Juan mountains to the east and desert canyons to the west.

Hey, Summer Camp Folks!

I’m thrilled to announce a brand name that’s new to our online store but certainly not new to anybody! The North Face, is an outdoor product manufacturer that has a heavy focus on apparel and other essential camping items like backpacks and sleeping bags.

The North Face saw it’s beginning thanks to two hiking enthusiasts who wanted to find a profitable way to involve their passion in their lives. By 1966, they’d set up their own little mountaineering store, selling quality gear to outdoorsy folks much like themselves. They weren’t calling themselves The North Face just yet, but they would in another couple years.

Named after the most unmerciful side of a mountain, The North Face brand prides themselves on creating the high-performance sportswear that’s required for such harsh settings. Utilizing the latest advancements in performance wear technology, The North Face took their business from a small shop to a worldwide brand that operates out of over 50 retail stores in the USA alone!

The brand grew rapidly thanks to the quality they produced. Not only do they put their products through a series of grueling lab tests to see how much their equipment can withstand, they also send their gear and apparel along with a team of expedition athletes out into the wilderness to give their products the challenge of the real deal! Feedback from their athlete team allows them to fine-tune their manufacturing methods and processes.

Hey, Light Fans!

One new brand name we’re more than thrilled to now have on board is Petzl. Bringing 20 lumens to the table with this kid’s TIKKID Headlamp, the Petzl brand is certainly serious about the service they supply through the quality of their equipment. That’s because a young Ferdinand Petzl explored places that required a product of a certain quality that wasn’t available to him in the 1930s.

Ferdinand was a cave explorer. His explorations grew into thousand-meter  by designing and creating solutions for ascending, descending, belaying, and seeing in the dark. And with his craftsmanship came the company. By 1970, the first ‘Fernand Petzl’ brand products were produced in a French workshop.

The current President of the company, Paul Petzl had this to say: “My father was an artisan and a speleologist [cave] explorer. From early childhood on, I was immersed in the thrill of discovery. The pleasure of designing and then perfecting objects drove my father, Fernand Petzl. The company revolutionized activities connected with lighting and verticality."

The Petzl company grew and it didn’t take long before it had developed into an international enterprise! Throughout this growth, the company strived and succeeded to remain mindful of keeping their passion and personal feel which was the foundation on which Petzl has been built.   

Manufacturing rope ascenders and descenders in the 60s, it was 1973 when Petzl put out its first mountaineering headlamp. Mastering their craft along the way, Petzl eventually produced a children’s headlamp—a product that’s easy-to-use and kid-friendly: the TIKKID Petzl Headlamp.
