Get to know the game that other companies play and learn how some great companies got started like Woolrich, Columbia, and Speedo. Today I’m going to talk about the very popular kid’s toymakers and game creators from the Melissa & Doug company—Melissa and Doug.
Melissa and Doug Bernstein first started making toys for kids and educational games in the garage of the home where Doug grew up. His parents still lived there too so the couple had to be careful not to disturb them in their everyday life. That was more than 25 years ago in 1988.
But things have changed quite a bit since the two of them first got their start. The company has gone global with more than 1200 employees, great success, and steady growth. Melissa and Doug eventually moved into an actual office building just down the road from his parents’ house.
