Get the Most Out of Sleeping at Camp

Posted on

Hello, Camp Fans!

You know, we cover a lot of topics relating to summer camp on our Everything Summer Camp Blog. I’ve already told you how to find the right sleeping bag to suit you for your specific summer camp stay. I’ve told you about mummy style bags as opposed to the traditional rectangular bags. I’ve discussed temperature ratings.

For today’s blog post I’d like to let you in on a number of ways that you can optimize your outdoor sleeping in case you’re planning on roughin’ it overnight at all this summer.

First of all—obviously, you should have a flashlight with you. It’s also a good idea to bring a book along as well. Reading has a way of tiring your eyes in a way that make them heavy.

And…you know…once your eyes get heavy…you…*yawn*…you pretty much are…

Aside from that, it’s always important to know the standard, seasonal temperatures of your camp’s location so you know which style bag you’ll prefer to go with—mummy or rectangle style. And—head’s up—If your child is a restless sleeper who likes to toss and kelty sleeping bagturn all over the place at night, then a mummy style sleeping bag probably isn’t quite what you’re looking for.

You’ll also want to pay attention to the temperature rating on the bag so you know what kind of temperatures your sleeping bag is equipped to handle. That’s why it’s so important to know what kind of temperatures you might see during your summer camp stay.

Arguably, one of the most important elements to a comfortable night of sleep in the great outdoors is the use of a mattress pad like the foam Egg Crate Mattress Pad we offer. The Air Chair Plus, also found at Everything Summer Camp, doubles not only as a chair but a comfortable sleeping mattress too.

So, I hope you may have been inspired to make the most out of your sleep during camp. It’s a vital part of staying healthy and ready to be active. That’s all for today, Camp Fans! Sleep tight!
