T.A.W. did not open until 8:00 am. I got there at 6:00 am. When I unpacked, I had my lice check, and then we had a camp cookout. My dad was so hungry and he loves cookouts. There were hamburgers and cake with fruit on top. After the cookout my mom and dad left. The camp went to the gym to sign up for the activities. After, I had a swim test. I didn’t pass. Then we went to our cabins for a few hours to play. After that we had dinner and E. P. (Evening Program). In the morning I got up and did the morning routine, Then I Went to breakfast. Then we did cabin cleanup and then we would do three activities. After that we would have lunch. Then we had happy nappy my favorite. Then we did three more activities, then dinner and E. P. and I did that for three weeks. On the day before we left we pack day and night. I left the next day. I cried when I left. Camp is Awesome!!!

God Bless Ton-A-Wandah.”

A very PUZZLE-ing day..

Hey, Puzzle People!

A great way to pass the time on a chilly day in January, people absolutely LOVE their jigsaw puzzles. That’s why today is National Puzzle Day. Originally designed as educational tools, puzzles were first made in the 1760’s by a mapmaker from London, named John Spilsbury. He discovered his invention one day when he placed a map oFun with puzzles is much more than just fun!n a sheet of wood and cut out pieces of the countries.

He immediately recognized the usefulness this could have for means of education.

It didn’t take schools very long to catch on to the genius of teaching children their geography by having them put together puzzles. It wasn’t until sometime in the 1820’s that puzzles left the classroom and developed a new style of market. New cardboard puzzles offered a cheap means of entertainment during the depression and gained great popularity.

But even more than an educational tool for geography or a cheap means of entertainment, puzzles are good for the mind and good for the body—a seriously healthy pastime.

When engaged in a puzzle, our brains fall into certain patterns that increase our concentration, expand our creativity, make us more alert, reduce stress, lower our heart rate, lower our breathing rate, and strengthen our visual acuity as well as our pattern recognition…WOW!

It sounds like doing puzzles is jusThe pieces of the puzzlet as important as exercising!—like jogging for your mind! What better day to pull out a fun, engaging puzzle and put your mind to work on it.

Yes, puzzles are indeed a healthy option for leisure-time activities. Check out jigsaw puzzle retailers like Puzzle Warehouse to find the best in quality and excellent range of puzzle pictures. Find a favorite of your own and order it in celebration of National Puzzle Day.

Learn about Tali’s Time at Camp

Hey, Camp Fans!

Having brought in nearly 30 entries The ‘Share Your Camp Story’ drawing here at Everything Summer Camp saw a great response that made us eager to publish each one right here on the Blog! After our seven lucky winners, everyone else who submitted received a $15 gift certificate to our online store! Today’s post is from Tali R., reviewing her favorite camp memories from

Be the wild rose that you are!“These are my best (and most embarrassing) camp memories:

My 10-year-old friend Leora broke into bunk G10 and she didn’t get in any trouble. Her 13-year-old sister was in G10. She looked around and saw a bra chain and thought it was really funny. She didn’t get caught.

On the second to last day of camp I got so much canteen I literally barfed. I bought orange soda, cotton candy, razzles, corn pops, nachos, smart fries and M&M’s. My stomach still hurts thinking about it.

My most embarrassing moment was when I was answering a question in front of the whole camp and I farted. I will never forget that!!

At our overnight camp out, me and my friend Rami were in a tent together and we heard a sound and we thought it was a ghost. But really it was our friend Moo Moo outside the tent making ghost sounds.

I was on the rolling log in the lake and my friend Isabella pushed me off. I had to get out of the water and there was lake water coming out of my mouth.

For color war we had swim races but I had red makeup on my face (GO RED!) and my makeup shmeered all over my face. It made me look all bloody. I will always regret this moment. The good news is that WE WON COLOR WAR!!!!!

We went fishing with nets and I kept catching the same fish over and over. It kept on jumping back into the water. It was so funny.

The camp food was pretty horrible. Good thing I had a package of ramen noodles.

On the camp out we heard lightning and thunder, but it wasn’t really lightning and thunder!!! It was just the counselor’s ring tone on their phone.

Mom’s packages from your website [everythingsummercamp.com] helped make camp a lot easier and fun! Until my friend Shelly robbed my silly string!!!! At least I still have my sleeping bag, it sure made me warm in the woods. Thanks!!”

Thanks again for all the memories, Tali (as well as the laughs)! To anyone else interested in Camp Moshava, be sure to check it out for yourself. As always, thanks for reading!

Boys will be boys at Camp Becket

Posted on

Hey, Camp Aficionados!

If your kid has expressed interest in attending summer camp in the coming camp season, visit the Summer Camp Spotlight posts on the Blog to peruse potential camps where you can send your curious kid. I’m shining my spotlight on a great camp for boys in thCheck out a great camp like Becket for yourself.e Berkshires region of western Masachusetts. Check it out:

A YMCA camp for boys, Camp Becket (a.k.a. Camp Becket-in-the-Berkshires) was founded in 1903 by a man named George Hannum. Over a century of fun times and lifelong memories started there on Rudd Pond in Becket, Massachusetts. One of the oldest continually running summer camps in the country, Camp Becket is considered to be one of the best.

There’s a lot going on at Camp Becket. Choose from fun camp activities like Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Archery, Riflery, Swimming, Canoeing, Kayaking Creative Arts, Photography, Woodshop, Music, Drama, Climbing, High/Low Ropes Course, Nature, Outdoor Living Skills, and a whole lot more!

Campers go to the same three activities on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and alternate with another three activities on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday while Sundays are left open to Village events.
Look at this amazing structure on the Becket camp grounds.
Enjoy the performing arts and music classes in the jewel of Camp Becket—Gibson Hall is a magnificent sight that’s impressed campers since 1917. Campers can enjoy the quieter side of summer camp too in the Camp Becket Library, spending time reading, playing checkers and chess, or taking in a beautiful sunset. Get your meals in the boisterous Paul Dudley White Memorial Dining Hall, pray in the Chapel, and get well-rested in the accommodating cabins.

Boasting five athletic fields, courts for tennis, volleyball, and basketball, Camp Becket has archery ranges, a riflery range, a disk golf course, and so much more.

Camp Becket excels in teaching the younger generation to set their minds on traditional values and providing them with a sense of community and working together. It’s a place where boys spend their summers learning, laughing, and making long-lasting friendships.

Get acquainted with Camp Becket yourself and check it out right here. As always, thanks for reading.Everyone makes friends with everyone at Camp Becket.
