Smart Art

Hey, Everything Summer Camp Fans!

It’s a little tricky, hanging a name on Art’s position at Everything Summer Camp. I guess you could say he’s our Handyman/Maintenance guy but he does much more than that. For the last five years, he’s been doing everything from fixing the flash dryer in our screen printing shop to mowing the grass on the company’s property.
Art is our handy maintenance guy at Everything Summer Camp.
Ask Art to build you something—anything—and he’ll come back with a piece of equipment that drops your jaw. He’s fixed my riding lawn mower for me as well as my two push mowers lickety-split!

Not too far from Everything Summer Camp, Art lives in Stanley, Wisconsin but he was born all the way on the other side of the country in Fresno, California. So how did he come to settle down in Stanley? Well, to answer that question, allow me to simply delve into some facts about the guy.

I’m not trying to say that Art’s old, but he definitely has more history under his belt that anyone else at Everything Summer Camp.

Just as he’s had every conceivable job under the sun, he’s been to every single one of the 48, contiguous United States. When choosing an area in which to settle, he didn’t look around the neighborhood, he looked at the U.S. map.

He chose northwestern Wisconsin because it was a place that suited him and his wife, Pat. Art met his wife in the military, as Art served as a Marine in the Viet Nam war. Together they raised three boys—Art II, Jeremy, and Sean. With their boys all grown up, Art and Pat share a simple life together with the house all to themselves—no kids or even animals. “Wife, kids, grandchildren—no pets,” he says.

Aside from a Marine, he’s also been a police officer, a meteorologist (in Viet Nam), a tool and die maker, and (an avid skier), he’s also worked Ski Patrol which entails skiing out to treat injured skiers on the scene. Remember when I said he’s done a lot of different jobs? I wasn’t makin’ it up. When going down the list, a line from one of Sinatra’s songs comes to mind:

I’ve been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn, and a king. That’s all for today, Camp Fans. Thanks for reading.

Pledge to Brown Ledge

Hey, Camp Fans!

I was just looking into a wonderful camp on the eastern coast. I’m swinging our summer camp spotlight here at Everything Summer Camp to the banks of Lake Champlain—just eight miles north of Burlington, Vermont. I’m talking about a girls camp called Brown Ledge. Here's the camp logo for Brown Ledge Camp for Girls.-

An overnight camp for girls ages from 10-18 years of age, Brown Ledge sits on Mallets Bay, the largest bay on Lake Champlain. Brown Ledge boasts 1500 feet of waterfront on the biggest bay of the biggest New England lake. A combination of fields and woods on the Brown Ledge campgrounds produce a perfect summer camp setting.

There are lots of activities to keep you busy at Brown Ledge—there’s Horseback Riding, Tennis, Archery, Riflery, Water Sports, Studio Arts & Crafts, Theater, Dance, and so much more. A very different camp, the choice of how to spend the day is up to each individual camper. You can spend all day horseback riding, or try to fit as many of the 18 available activities as you can into one day.
Get great activities into your summer days at Brown Ledge.
Brown Ledge certainly lends a remote feeling, but really, the campsite is just a 15 minute drive to civilization: Vermont’s largest city, Burlington. The state’s finest hospital and an abundance of physicians in all kinds of specialties at the University of Vermont Medical school are both extremely nearby.

Brown Ledge gives girls a clearer image of themselves—one that’s untouched by their established reputation of who they are from back home. This camp experience will give your camper more option than most other camps will which just may give her an idea of what she’s really passionate about. Or it may give her an extremely well-rounded getaway.

An excellent all girls summer camp for your daughter to attend, check out Brown Ledge Camp for yourself and, as always, thanks for reading. This could be you at Brown Ledge Camp for girls.

Play Some Games Freestyle

Hey, Campers!

As we inch our way toward warmer weather here in the northwestern area of Wisconsin—the place where Everything Summer Camp is based—we get more and more excited about all of our outdoor items. While we sell a few toys, games, or activity books that make for entertaining indoor use, most of what we sell has to deal with camping gear in the great outdoors.

This time of year, the weather tends to be a little shaky—60° one week and snow in the next. Well, you can take the fun outside or keep it in with the Freestyle Bocce and Freestyle Horseshoe Set.

Get your Bocce Set set and have a blast this summer playing Bocce Ball with friends!Backpack Bocce Ball Set
This game set includes nine, nylon throwing balls and a convenient carrying case. There’s also a cinch-shut mesh nylon pouch. The Target Ball is randomly thrown and players then take turns to toss their Throwing Balls and aiming as close to the Target Ball as they can get. The scoring system is simple: one point for each bocce ball that’s closer to the Target Ball than your opponent’s closest ball. If you’re talented enough to toss a Throwing Ball with enough accuracy that it creeps up and rolls to a stop and touches the Target Ball, that counts for two points.

Freestyle HorseshoePlay it inside, play it outside---it's all good.
A longstanding classic, this set of Freestyle Horseshoes includes four full-size rubber horseshoes, two rubber mats, two indoor stakes, two outdoor stakes, and a carrying bag with instructions. Game play is simple: players take turns tossing their horseshoes, trying to ring one around a stake. If a horseshoe lands within six inches of a stake, it counts as one point, if both of your horseshoes are closer than your opponents’ you get two points, and if you ring a stake with your horseshoe, it counts as three points.

Get your games for affordable prices right here at Everything Summer Camp to get some fun whether your stuck indoors or the sun is shining! They’re easy-to-use, easy-to-pack, and fun for all! Bring the games with you when you head off to summer camp where the fun never stops and, as always, thanks for reading!

How Well Can You See in the Dark?

Posted on

Hey, Camp Fans!

We strive to carry the best brands of the best products for all the camping gear we carry here at Everything Summer Camp. That’s why we’re sharp on scouting for the newest trending brand names. We look for brand names that stand out like the innovative brand called Nite Ize. These leaders in the lighting industry question what a flashlight really needs to be.

Endowed with resourceful and creative minds, this company introduces new ideas to practical products for people who lead active lifestyles—perfect for the routines that keep kids on their feet at summer camp.

The idea first hit the founder of Nite Ize, Rick Case, when he was hiking a mountain with a friend and their poor quality headlights from the 80’s started to fail them in the darkness of the wee hours of the morning. Luckily, Rick remembered a small flashlight he had in his pocket. He took it out and held up to the side of his head.

These flashsticks are great for summer camp convenience! That’s when he had the thought, “Why not just turn this into a headlamp?”

When Rick first launched Nite Ize, it certainly saw humble beginnings. It was 1989 when the company first started their operation, working from a small cabin—only 500 square feet somewhere off away in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado.

But this company grew itself quickly and has made a name for themselves in the less-than-30 years that they’ve been around. They proudly developed their business, making an addition to their initial facility. They now have another building in Boulder—their 90,000 square foot Global Distribution Center.Nite Ize Flashlights are crazy powerful!

Creating quality products with a healthy glow—Nite Ize can brighten the darkness at summer camp! And we’re happy to supply our customers with the 3 in 1 LED FlashStick as well as the 3 in 1 LED Flashlight from this excellent brand name. Check out this flashlight and glowstick and, as always, thanks for reading!
