Personalize Your Bunk to Prevent Homesickness

Posted on

Bring a few items from home to personalize your bunk! Battery operated fairy lights, pictures of family, and a small throw pillow can add a little comfort of home during afternoon rest time or before bedtime.

Floor Mats

Floor mat or bath mat is an absolute must next to your child’s bunk!! The kids kick off their shoes and we know how dirty their feet can get! My daughter said it was so nice to wipe them off before climbing into her bed!

Calming Your Homesickness

Posted on

My daughter said one thing that helped with homesickness was how cozy her bed was! Twinkle lights, pictures of friends and family from home on the wall, special bedding she helped pick out and I had personalized, fun journal and gel pens for jotting down memories, etc! She said whenever she had quiet time and was laying in her bunk, it made her think of how much fun we had shopping for everything she needed! : )

Bring an extra set of sheets-changing them in the middle of camp can help with sand and dirt.

Things you may not think to pack:
-Extra water bottles, a friend may loose one or you may
- glow sticks, great for kids who like nightlights but they don’t attract bugs
-labels, if you camp has a store your kid can put a label on it or if one falls off
-Label everything and anything
- if your camp allows pack snacks from home this may help with homesickness
- laundry sheets repel bugs, put them under the bed in your luggage, book bags etc.
