Hey, Tree Huggers!

For the majority of people, camp is about getting out and interacting with nature. Can you even imagine summer camp without grass? Without water? Trees? We here at Everything Summer Camp want to help preserve our natural world. We’re sure that you feel the same. And what better way than putting lots of trees in the ground?! Here at Everything Summer Camp, we’re happy to announce that we’ve partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every trunk we sell!

We’re thrilled to be working with One Tree Planted: a nonprofit dedicated to reforestation across the world. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. The trees will be planted by local partner organizations and community volunteers in areas of deforestation. They only plant local tree species, grown in nearby nurseries, and planted when conditions are optimal for tree survival.

Putting all those trees together creates forests to benefit people, nature, and wildlife for years to come. In addition to creating habitats for biodiversity, trees clean the air and contribute to our health and well-being. How are they doing that? Is it just the fresh air?

Not quite…

The secret ingredient trees are working with that has such a positive effect on us is called a negative ion. Negative ions are found in water that has been negatively charged by the earth. Tree roots reach deep and bring up this water, bringing the negative charge from the earth up along with it. The trees then breathe this healing energy out. With that in mind, it’s true that it actually feels good to hug a tree!

Partnering with local communities and knowledgeable experts, One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises awareness about the importance of trees, offers businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivates younger generations to do something positive for the environment! Happy New Year, Camp Folks!

This holiday focuses on new beginnings and fresh starts. You’ll see lots of folks setting New Year’s Resolutions for the coming year. And we’re no different here at Everything Summer Camp! Always looking to provide our customers with the best of the best in summer camp assistance, we set standards, goals, and New Year’s resolutions for our company. And, boy!—do we have big plans in the works for 2023 here at Everything Summer Camp!

New Look
You may have noticed, just in time for the new year, we’ve updated lots of images throughout our online store. We held a photoshoot at the end of the 2022 camp season and, after sifting through them all, picking our favorites, and properly editing them, they’re now displayed on our site. New Style
Along with new images, we’re bringing a whole new style to our product description pages in order to deliver a more comprehensive and complete shopping experience. But that’s not all! In the coming year, you can expect a much more interesting, inviting, and informative idea to our website with a much more detailed look at the products we offer along with random camp tips scattered throughout!

New Phone System
Everything Summer Camp isn’t some faceless stranger like you have with lots of big name retailers and overstuffed corporations like Amazon. Call in and we’ll prove it! You’ll be talking with an actual person before you know it! But we’re also re-recording our phone system to offer updated, friendlier, and more informative messages while you’re waiting. Our hope is that our new messages are so good, you’ll ask to be put back on hold!

New Returns System
ReturnGO is our new and improved return system! Start a return by clicking on ‘Customer Service’ at the top of our homepage, then select ‘Returns, Refunds, and Exchanges’, and then ‘Online Return Form’. Provide either your order number or your email, zip code, and phone number and your order will be pulled up where you can choose what you want to return or exchange. Then you’ll receive a label to return the items. We have a very generous return policy with a 60-day return to refund your original form of payment or an in-store credit as well as 61-120 days for in-store credit.

New Announcement
Tune in a few days from now on Wednesday, January 4^th, when we announce a new partnership we’ve formed to provide ourselves with a simple sustainability solution as well as an important part of our business model—something that has all of us at Everything Summer Camp very excited!

Hey, Camp Folks!

During these cold, dark winter months of northern Wisconsin, it’s easy to get a little crazy about light. We throw them up all over our yards, the outside of our houses, and in darker corners and pockets indoors. Common at light shows, concerts, and plenty of other festivals, you’ll start seeing Glow Sticks as nighttime sets in. They’ve been around for decades, but originally weren’t used in celebratory fashion. They were military equipment.

It’s easy to see why Glow Stick technology was initially researched and developed for military use. The government contracted a chemist named Edwin Chandross in the 1960’s to investigate the process of chemicals that could emit powerful light without generating heat called ‘chemiluminescence’.

Glow Sticks need no batteries. They’re cheap. They have a long shelf life. They’re easy to dispose of. They can tolerate high pressures. They’re waterproof and weatherproof. And, in the right conditions, you can see one from a mile away. They’re also non-flammable and non-sparking, making them the only source of light safe to use in a disaster area immediately following the event. They’re used on a daily basis as markers for parachuters, landing zones, targets, as well as emergency lights.

At the same time that these new inventions were being used in their practical functionality, Glow Sticks emerged in a completely separate and surprising application. People found the aesthetics of the light from Glow Sticks had a certain appeal in a party and festival sort of setting.

Glow Sticks debuted on the music scene in 1971 at the Yale Ball in New Haven, Connecticut when a concert-goer and his friend visited the factory where his father worked assembling Glow Sticks. They filled their backpacks full of these cool lights and hauled them to the concert that night.

Within the first few songs of the show, the boys had started cracking open the Glow Sticks and handing them out to the crowd. No one had ever seen anything like it before. The awesome lights in the dark night brought the music to a stop and the whole show to a standstill. People were spellbound!

Glow Sticks remain an important part of military gear, but are certainly prevalent in places like clubs, parties, and festivals…even summer camp!
