Posted on

Hey, Camp Fans!

It’s that time again to take a moment here on the Everything Summer Camp Blog to highlight one of the many summer camps with whom we’re proud to have developed a wonderful relationship. For today’s summer camp spotlight Blog post, we’re fixing our light on our friends down south in eastern Texas where we find The Pines Catholic Camp.

This beautiful summer camp is located on 130 acres of gorgeous piney woods in Eastern Texas. With Catholicism being a large part of this summer camp’s identity, The Pines work summer after summer to help their campers both discover and develop a personal relationship with Christ.

There’s no shortage of waterfront fun at The Pines with their Slide, BLOB, Log Rolling, Canoes, Power Tower, and more! Brush up on skills in Archery, Arts and Crafts, Riflery, Dance, Music, and more. And have fun with sports and other activities such as Ultimate, Ga-Ga, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Eagleball, Capture-the-Flag, Messy Wars, Granny’s Candies, High Ropes, Zipline, Low Ropes, Climbing Wall, Power Pole, Card Games, Trailblazing, Theme Team Training, and more.

The campers of each cabin at The Pines share meals together, have prayer time together, and participate in spiritual programs together. And, before bedtime, campers have ‘Winner’s Circle’ where the counselors of each cabin lead discussions about faith and life. This develops a strong connection among the campers of each cabin.

A magical campus, their facilities are made with both accommodation and fun in mind so campers at The Pines aren’t just suited for overnight stays, but treated to an unforgettable summer camp experience. If The Pines Catholic Camp sounds like the place for you, give it a closer look! You can check out their website by clicking right here and, as always, thanks for reading, Camp Fans!

Dreamy Anokijig

Posted on

Hey, Camp Fans!

Obviously, summer camp is a pretty big deal to us. Our name sort of gives that away. And, since we work with so many of them across the country, we like to take some time each month to highlight a couple of the summer camps with whom we’re proud to have such a strong relationship. For today’s Blog post, we’re going to stick right in our home state of Wisconsin where Everything Summer Camp operates to highlight the much-deserving Camp Anokijig (pronounced Ann-oh-kee-jee).

Nestled between the gentle rolling hills of southeastern Wisconsin is the beautiful Elkhart Lake, born of glacial formation and gifted with a wooded shoreline that Native Americans once called home. Still the same gorgeous almost 400 acres of land it was way back then, this place has been the home of Camp Anokijig since 1926.

Always presenting a fun summer for their campers, Camp Anokijig offers awesome activities for you to choose and focus on. Learn new skills that you discover at camp from options that include Canoeing, Archery, Swimming, Sports, Fishing, Arts/Crafts, Nature, Trailcrafts, Kayaking, Windsurfing, and much, much more. The activities offered at Anokijig are not only a blast for the campers, but incredible learning experiences for them as well.

The main sight when you get to camp is the huge rustic Western Lodge that overlooks the lake. With a large fireplace, PA system, movie screen, VCR, DVD, indoor heating, dining area, meeting space, and offices, this is the heart of Anokijig. Along with their Nature Center, souvenir shop, craft building, and outdoor lab, it’s clear to see this place is a fun factory!

Suited for your overnight stay, Camp Anokijig provides its campers a plethora of cabins and tents—each one offering a unique experience of the campus and the great outdoors! If Anokijig sounds like the place for you, give it a closer look! Check out their website by clicking right here and, as always, thanks for reading, Camp Fans!

Getting Back to Ak-O-Mak

Posted on

Hey, Camp Folks!

When you work with all the great summer camps that we do here at Everything Summer Camp, it’s hard not to sing their praises. But we like singing anyhow, so we do it pretty often. We work with more than 270 camps and today, we’re shining our summer camp spotlight to southern Canadian border in Ontario, just north of Toronto.

Situated on the shores of Ahmic Lake, Ak-O-Mak girls are treated to the camp’s private waterfront and 400 acres of land, including open fields, woodland trails, forest, and wetlands. Founded in 1928, Camp Ak-O-Mak was the world’s first swimming and sports camp for girls.

Girls have a lot of fun with jam-packed days at Camp Ak-O-Mak, filled with awesome summer activities. Have fun at their waterfront which offers a diving tower, beach games, sailing, and more! And, back on dry land, Camp Ak-O-Mak offers huge grass playing fields where you can find their baseball diamond, soccer pitch, archery range, beach volleyball courts, tennis courts, along with a bunch of mountain bikes and road bikes.

The beautiful campus boasts roughly one mile of private shoreline overlooking the pristine Ahmic Lake. And they have rustic, but well-maintained buildings where their campers sit down to eat, visit the infirmary, bring clothes to the laundry service, or get warm by the large stone fireplace.

Campers at Camp Ak-O-Mak live in wooden cabins with no electricity. An unplugged, rustic living experience gives the girls an unmatched level of focus and develops their appreciation for the natural world around them as well as the new friends they’ve made. 8 to 12 girls of the same age are assigned to a cabin along with two or three counsellors.

If Ak-O-Mak sounds like it may be the camp for you, check it out further by visiting their website—just click right here. And, as always, thanks for reading!

Camp Abnaki Feeling Badly

Posted on

Hey, Camp Fans.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the entire world and summer camps are no exception. Many camps weren’t in session for this summer season, compelled to take the precautions deemed necessary to keep everyone safe. Just like all of you, everyone here at Everything Summer Camp is deeply saddened that so many campers didn’t get to have their summer camp experience this season.

While some of you may have attended summer camp this season, other campers were not so fortunate. To those of you who didn’t get to go to camp this year, know that you are not alone. Today, we’re featuring one of the many summer camps who were closed for their normal camp season this summer—Camp Abnaki. Here’s the message they put out on their website:

“We have worked tirelessly to determine if or how the 120-year-old traditions of YMCA Camp Abnaki might continue this summer in a safe and meaningful way. The team has used all available resources to explore how camp facilities and the experience might be adapted. We have deliberated for countless hours, diving deep into guidance provided by the CDC, the Vermont Department of Health, Vermont Camping Association, YMCA of the USA, and the American Camping Association…. With very heavy hearts, Abnaki leadership—with the support of Greater Burlington YMCA senior management—has made the difficult decision to suspend all of Camp Abnaki’s traditional overnight, day camp, trips, and CIT sessions for the 2020 summer season.”

Everything Summer Camp supports Camp Abnaki and we look forward to seeing their normal camp sessions return in 2021. We hope all you campers who had planned on a summer stay at Abnaki were still able to get out into the wilderness for your own personal camping experience and, as always, thanks for reading.
