Zero Weeks at Camp Zeke

Posted on

Hey, Camp Fans.

There were many camps that didn’t hold session for this summer season, compelled to take the precautions deemed necessary to keep everyone safe. Just like all of you, everyone here at Everything Summer Camp is deeply saddened that so many campers didn’t get to have their summer camp experience this season.

While some of you may have attended camp this season, others were not so fortunate. To those of you who didn’t get to go to camp this year, know that you’re not alone. Today, we’re featuring one of the many summer camps who were closed this season—Camp Zeke. Here’s the message from their website:

“With heavy hearts, we have made the painful decision to cancel camp this summer. As our neighbors closed their doors one by one, we held out hope that some new piece of information would come along that would allow us to open safely. Unfortunately, this hasn’t happened.

We know that this decision will be as painful for campers to hear as it was for us to make. We will do everything possible to support all of you during this difficult time. Our Director of Camper Care, Riva, is available to any camper who would benefit from help processing this sad news. We are also in the process of planning digital opportunities for bunkmates to connect and stay engaged with each other.

We are so very sorry that this is the outcome of our planning. We truly hoped that camp would open this summer and are devastated by this decision. All of us are looking towards a brighter 2021.”

Everything Summer Camp supports Camp Zeke and we look forward to seeing their normal camp sessions return in 2021. We hope all you campers who had planned on a summer stay were still able to get out into the wilderness for your own personal camping experience. As always, thanks for reading.

Hey, Camp Fans.

Many camps weren’t in session for this summer season, compelled to take the precautions deemed necessary to keep everyone safe.

Today, we’re featuring one of the many summer camps who were closed for their normal camp season this summer—Camp Wohelo. Here’s the message from their website:

“As of April 23rd, 2020, the Alberta Chief Medical Officer has banned mass gatherings for the summer of 2020. Camp Wohelo has now officially cancelled summer camp programming; this decision was a difficult but necessary precaution to keeping everyone safe.

Cancelling summer camp programs and rentals creates a significant challenge, as Camp Wohelo relies on that revenue to operate and maintain the beautiful site and buildings year-round. Now is a time that Camp Wohelo is more dependent on donations to continue to maintain the facility and make improvements on projects already underway; if you wish to make a donation please do contact us (campwohelo@yahoo.ca).

We will continue to monitor restrictions and guidelines set out by the Provincial Government, the Alberta Camping Association, and the Canadian Camping Association recommendations so that we will be able to provide a safe environment…for next camp season.”

Everything Summer Camp supports Camp Wohelo and we look forward to seeing their normal camp sessions return in 2021. We hope all you campers who had planned on a summer stay at Wohelo were still able to get out into the wilderness for your own personal camping experience and, as always, thanks for reading.

The Summer Without Wise

Posted on

Hey, Camp Fans.

Our nation is being tested and folks from all over have been compelled to close their doors in the summer season in order to take the precautions deemed necessary to keep everyone safe. Unfortunately, this summer season has seen a good amount of camp closures and, along with them, a lot of glum faces. Just like all of you, everyone here at Everything Summer Camp is deeply saddened that there are so many camps closing their doors for the 2020 season and that so many campers don’t get to have their summer camp experience this season.

While some of you may have attended camp this season, others were not so fortunate. To those of you who didn’t get to go to camp this year, know that you’re not alone. Today, we’re featuring one of the many summer camps who were closed for their normal camp season this summer—Camp Wise. Here’s the message from their website:

“It is with deep sadness that the Board and professional leadership of the Mandel JCC and Camp Wise have made the very painful and difficult decision to cancel our Camp Wise Summer 2020 season. After careful consideration and consultation with experts, it became increasingly clear that the risks to bringing our community together in-person this summer would be extraordinarily unique and challenging with no guarantee of the safety and well-being of anyone. Ultimately, the decision was made and founded upon one goal—to safeguard the health and wellbeing of everyone in our community…. In this unprecedented moment in time, we believe it is incumbent upon us to do what we ask our campers and staff to strive for every day each summer, which is to live by our Camp Wise values, even when it’s hard and involves sacrifice.”

Everything Summer Camp supports Camp Wise and we look forward to seeing their normal camp sessions return in 2021. We hope all you campers who had planned on a summer stay at Camp Wise are still able to get out into the wilderness for your own personal camping experience and, as always, thanks for reading.

Ain't No Sucka at Winnamocka

Hey, Camp Fans!

People from all over the country have closed their doors in the summer season to take the precautions deemed necessary to keep everyone safe throughout the coronavirus pandemic, but there have been some areas where people have been fortunate enough to not be impacted as heavily as others. Though many camps have had to close their doors for the 2020 summer season, there are still some holding sessions. Camp Winnamocka is one.

Camp Winnamocka sits on 220 acres of Arkansan trails, lakes, jungle lagoons, and lots more. They’ve been going since mid-June for their camp season and just wrapped up their last session at the start of the month. To assure campers and parents alike that the campus was safe, the staff put out this message:

“The health and safety of our campers, camp families, and staff are the top priority every summer.  Due to the current health issues related to COVID-19 we will be implementing several procedural changes to help our families feel comfortable sending children to our programs…Camp Winnamocka opening and closing activities will look just a bit different this year, but this will enable us to limit contact with our facility.”

We’re happy to see that it’s been a successful summer camp session for all the happy Winnamocka campers who got their summer camp experience despite this year’s uncertain camp season.

We here at Everything Summer Camp are in full support of Camp Winnamocka and are so excited for their campers who got to have their summer session this year despite lots of questioning. We’re delighted to know that summer dreams have come true for some fortunate kids this season. May we all make it through these strange times more or less unscathed and set our sights on a less questionable summer next year. As always, thanks for reading.

Summer Fun at Camp Wigwam

Hey, Camp Fans!

Folks from all over the country have been compelled to close their doors in the summer season to take the precautions deemed necessary to keep everyone safe throughout the coronavirus pandemic, but there have been some areas where people have been fortunate enough to not be impacted as heavily as others. Though many camps have had to close their doors for the 2020 summer season, there are still some that are holding sessions.

Camp Wigwam in Southwestern Maine, nested in the foothills of the beautiful White Mountains, was delighted to start their camp session at the beginning of July. Their excitement is easy to see from Facebook posts like this one: “The Wigwam Nation, after two weeks of confinement with masks, is back—the summer is on!!!”

To assure campers and parents alike that the campus was safe, the staff put out this message:

“Our camper and staff’s safety and health is paramount and we want to assure you that preventative steps are in place to create the best possible care for all.... It is our hope that our new procedures and protocols will reassure you as you make your final decisions for camp.”

Looks like it’s been a successful summer camp session so far for many happy Wigwam campers who got their summer camp experience in an uncertain camp season.

We here at Everything Summer Camp are in full support of Camp Wigwam and so excited for their campers who get to have their summer session this year despite lots of questioning. We’re delighted to know that summer wishes are coming true for some fortunate kids this season. May we all make it through these strange times and set our sights on a less questionable summer season next year. As always, thanks for reading.
