"This summer, I went to Wet ‘n Wild as part of a field trip on my birthday. The field trip was with a day camp, and it was fun! I liked the Tunnel of Terror water slide because the whole ride is in the dark and it has a big drop that makes everyone scream! I also liked the wave pool, but I kept floating away because I am not that tall. But I liked it because every single person from my camp was in the wave pool. I also liked a tan colored water slide – I can’t remember the name of it, but I liked it because it was tall and fast. I also liked how, at the end of all of the water slides, I could get a souvenir and a few slushies because the slushies were yummy flavors red and blue. I got a water timer and a mini pop-it as souvenirs, and I liked them because they were very interesting.”

Thanks for this great submission, Gigi! Sounds like you had a really fun time this summer! I’m glad you liked the Tunnel of Terror—it sounds a bit spooky! Wet n’ Wild must be a pretty great place! You must have had an absolute blast with all the fun stuff at the water park. Slushies were probably the perfect way to end a day like that!

“So this was my first year at Gold Arrow. I had planned to go with a friend who had been before. I still was really nervous though because I had never been away and I would be gone for 2 weeks. It was the BEST time of my life. I made instant friends with the other kids in my bunk and I got to learn so many things. One of my favorite things was learning to knee board at Shaver Lake. I even earned a bronze patch for it and gained so much confidence that I knee boarded at home for over 30 minutes...something I had never before. I also overcame my fear of heights and did the ropes course and got to the highest level. The best part, overall, had to be the friends I met and I have got to keep in touch with them. I cannot wait to go back to GAC next year. Even my sister is joining me!”

Awesome, Brayden! Sounds like you got the full summer camp experience at Gold Arrow. It’s pretty normal to be nervous about going to camp for the first time, but I’m glad it was an absolute success! Sounds like you didn’t have any trouble making friends, overcoming some fears, and having an all-out blast.

Hey, Camp Fans!

As the summer season makes its subtle shift into fall, we like to look back and reflect on the fun that you had. That’s why, when the camp season is over, we’re always excited here at Everything Summer Camp to keep with our traditional ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest.

This year we have ten winners for prizes of $50, $100, and the grand prize of $300! Today we're announcing the first of our six $50 winners.

Today’s winner is Victoria S.! Congratulations, Victoria! You’re our first $50 prize winner! She spent some fun summer days at Camp Harlam this year for camp! Read all about it in her submission right now...

Thanks for this great submission, Victoria! We’re so glad to hear how much you loved your time at Harlam. Way to go putting yourself out there and making friends. It can be a little intimidating to go introduce yourself to someone, but also very rewarding! It’s great to hear what a special place Camp Harlam is. Have fun in the years to come!

Hey, Summer Camp Writers! 

Are you planning on participating in our ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest this year but have yet to actually enter your story? WHAT ARE YOU DOING READING THIS POST, THEN?!!?!! Stop now, click here, and get your story written up and submitted. You still have all day to make it happen, so don’t despair. Just make sure to write or create a video of yourself telling your camp story! 

We love to hear from as many of our readers as possible! Today is the last day for taking submissions, however, so act fast if you want to be a part of this year’s contest! 

The ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest has quickly become one of our favorite times of the year! We get to hear how the camp season went straight from the source! We love reading about all the accomplishments and friendships you made as well as what fears you may have overcome or simply what your favorite part was about going to summer camp! 

Get excited! We’re just a week away from finding out who among our participants are our winners of our gift certificate prizes. To reiterate the breakdown from previous posts, there will be the first round of winners made up of six participants who won the $50 gift card to our site. Next, there will be three $100 gift card winners. And then we have our grand prize winner of a $300 gift card. 

Make sure you don’t miss out on the fun! Tune in Tuesday, September 6^th—the day after Labor Day—when we reveal our first random winner and publish their entry right here on the Blog to kick off this year’s ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest collection. Hey, Storytellers! 

Summers are jam-packed! Especially so as the season nears the end and we all try to fit all our fun plans in as best we can before summer is officially over. Speaking of—don’t miss out on the opportunity to share your camp story with our widespread camp community, not to mention win a cool participatory prize from Everything Summer Camp! 

Throughout the month we’ve been and will continue to be taking your submissions for our annual ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest here at Everything Summer Camp. Get your memories and stories written down and entered or make a YouTube video and send the video link into us! Our final call is just exactly two weeks away on the last minute of August 31. 

Remember, everyone who submits gets a $20 gift certificate to Everything Summer Camp. Or you may be one of the ten, random, and lucky winners! Once we have everyone’s submissions, we’ll randomly select our winners and publish each of their stories one day at a time leading up to our grand prize winner of a $300 Everything Summer Camp Gift Certificate! 

In between, we’ll have three winners of the second-place, $100 Gift Certificate prize and six winners of our third-place, $50 Gift Certificate. 

Storytelling is an extremely useful means for campers to cement all the fun memories and valuable skill sets they acquired at camp. It’s great to review the new experiences you’ve had to help yourself process and reflect on what you learned. Need help with some ideas of what to talk about? Check out the initial Contest announcement I wrote last month.  

Include your first name and your last name initial, the camp you visited, and how many summers you’ve spent at camp. Parents are more than welcome to send us their submissions based on camp from their perspective or their own camp experiences as well.
