When it’s time to prepare for summer camp, picking the right footlocker trunk can make all the difference. Every camper has unique needs, and their trunk becomes their home base for the duration of camp. At Everything Summer Camp, we offer a range of trunk sizes to fit every camper’s situation. Whether it’s a short trip or a multi-week adventure, here’s how to choose the perfect camp footlocker for your summer camp experience.

Our Happy Camper, UnderGrad, and Graduate Camp Footlocker Trunks on the beach.

What's the Right Size Footlocker Trunk for Camp?

Our Footlocker Trunk construction is unmatched.

We offer four trunks sizes designed to pack all your essentials. The right size storage trunk is dependent on your camp. Before choosing, make sure the footlocker you bring will FIT in the bunk area at your camp—otherwise, it won’t be much help! Check your camp’s footlocker size restrictions.

Our Four Sizes of Durable, USA Steel Camp Trunks:

While there are more inexpensive options available like a Seward Trunk which is built more for attic storage than the rigors of camp life, C&N Footlockers are made for camp life. Far more resilient, our foot lockers are constructed here in the USA with a cabinet-grade plywood base and the protective steel exterior is given a scratch-resistant enamel finish so they stay looking great no matter how tough camp life gets.

How to Choose the Right Footlocker Trunk for Summer Camp

  • Get a beautiful teal footlocker trunk for camp.
Camp Requirements: Check with your camp for size restrictions before making a purchase. Some camps may also recommend specific trunk types, so it’s worth double-checking.
  • Duration of Stay: Longer stays often require larger trunks for extra clothes, bedding, and gear. Planning ahead ensures you’re prepared for future camp adventures.
  • Bunk Space: Measure the available space under the cabin bunk to ensure a good fit. Don’t forget to account for any extra storage accessories.
  • Personal Needs: Consider what your camper needs to bring. Are they light packers, or do they need space for special items like sports equipment or favorite camp games?
  • Laundry Service: Find out how frequently your camp offers laundry service. Many camps have scheduled laundry days, meaning your camper may not need to pack clothes for the entire duration of their stay. For instance, a three-week camp might only require enough clothes for 7–10 days, depending on the laundry schedule. This can significantly impact the size of the footlocker you choose and help avoid overpacking. Always consult the camp’s packing list for guidance, but keep laundry frequency in mind when planning your camper’s wardrobe.

The Fantastic Gymnastics of Simone Biles

Hey there, Gymnasts!

Let's take a moment to celebrate an amazing athlete who blazed a trail in the world of gymnastics—Simone Biles! You might have heard her name before, and for a good reason. Simone Biles is not just any gymnast—she's one of the best of all time!

Take a look at what this lady is capable of!

Picture a young girl with big dreams, born in Ohio in 1997. Simone's journey wasn't easy. She and her siblings spent time in foster care until her grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles, swooped in to give them a loving home in Texas. Little did they know, they were nurturing the talent of a future gymnastics superstar!

Simone's gymnastics adventure began when she was just six years old and she went on a field trip to a gymnastics center. She was hooked! With determination and dedication, she trained hard and it paid off! By age 14, she was competing at elite levels, showcasing her skills on vaults, bars, beams, and floors. That was in 2011.

Five years later she absolutely dominated the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro! She took home gold medals in the all-around, vault, and floor exercises, plus a bronze on the balance beam. Very impressive!

She went on to perform in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo where she won a silver and a bronze medal for Team USA, despite suffering from something gymnasts refer to as ‘the twisties’—a mental block which in which the victim loses control over their body!

Her list of achievements is endless—World Championships, National Titles, and even a Presidential Medal of Freedom!

Gymnastics is a popular activity at many summer camps, giving campers a chance to flip, tumble, and soar through the air. So, as you pack your bags for camp this summer, think about the incredible journey of athletes like Simone Biles. Who knows? You might discover your own passion for gymnastics or another exciting activity waiting for you at camp!

Did you play any sports or try any new activities during your camp stay this summer season? Share your favorite camp memories with us in the comments below! Until next time, keep reaching for the stars, just like Simone Biles! And, as always, Happy Camping!

Does your child love disc golfing? Lots of fun at summer camp, this sport is great among the natural surrounding!
“My favorite things at Camp Rockmont were playing disc golf and learning about homesteading. Disc golf was so much fun because I got to throw the discs really far and try to get them in the basket. In homesteading, I learned how to take care of animals and even helped feed the chickens. I liked being outside all the time, and I made a lot of new friends. I hope I can go back next summer and do even more fun stuff!”

I loved the challenge of steering through the fast water and working with my friends to get down the river. Rock climbing was amazing because I got to push myself to climb higher and see some awesome views. Spending the night outside made it feel like a real adventure, and I learned a lot about the outdoors. I can’t wait to go back next summer for even more excitement!”

Thank you so much for your amazing entry! It sounds like you had an incredible time at Camp Rockmont, especially paddling through the rapids—what an adventure! Hey, Camp Fans!

Are you all ready for another entry to our Everything Summer Camp ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest! Reading through all your amazing stories and sharing them with our community has been a heavenly experience! We’ve been having a great time posting them right here on the Blog, one by one.

We’re excited to feature today's camp story from Heaven V., who shared her experience at Hidden Valley Camp. Let’s dive in:
Read about the Hidden Valley hangout for the summer!

"I've went away for sleep away camp for a couple of years. Not as many years as everyone else but in saying that I had so much fun and learning lessons. If I would have never went I feel like I would have been just stuck. learning how to open up and grow as a young adult. Open up even if someone doesn't like what I have to say. Going to away camp is something everyone should try once in their life. When going to Hidden Valley was one of those camps that they had people from all over the world. You hear stories about how they grew up and what they like to do at home. Makes you wanna go and travel. Not in a mean way but you don’t wanna be stuck in your own city."

Thank you so much for sharing your camp experience, Heaven! It sounds like your time at Hidden Valley really helped you grow and learn in ways you never expected. We love hearing how camp gave you the confidence to open up and connect with people from all over the world. Your story truly captures the adventurous spirit of camp and the inspiration it sparks to explore beyond your own city.

We're so glad you had such a meaningful experience, and we agree—everyone should try sleepaway camp at least once! If anybody else is interested in learning more about Hidden Valley Camp, click here to check out their website. As always, thanks for reading!
