Like What We’ve Done with the Place?

Hello, Loyal Readers!

Notice anything different about us? You know, back on our main site. Well, maybe it’s been a while since you’ve been on our site. We’ve got a brand new look that we think you’re going to like! Yes, we’re rather excited to announce our new web design. Check out all the great things about it, highlighted below!Welcome to our new website!

We’ve been using our previous web design for the last five years, making small changes all along the way. We think of it as having lived in the same house, but throughout the five years, giving the rooms a nice paint-job and replacing the carpet in the living room. Well, we’ve built a new home now, so welcome to our new abode!

The fun of summer camp was all the inspiration we needed for the new site. Whenever we visit camps we see all these signs of fun and life. But when we came back to our website, we didn’t think it reflected that excitement that we saw at camp. That’s when we knew it was time for a change.

The most apparent change now when you visit our site is all the photos of kids having fun at camp. It’s a nice change from products on white backgrounds.

The other biggest change is that the site is given an equal emphasis on finding your camp and your camp’s packing list as there is to shopping. There’s always a certain amount of anxiety as you’re getting ready for camp. But with your packing list found so simply, the new site should help alleviate some of that anxiety and speed along the shopping experience.

You’ll also find much more videos on our website now. Videos truly deliver a better sense for the product that you’re thinking about buying. We had videos on our site five years ago too, however, the videos were off to the side with a tiny play button and they were scarce. Now videos are a focal point of each product page—front and center!

But now that you’ve heard about it from me, go chEnjoy shopping our website with a whole new feel!eck it out for yourself by clicking right here and, as always, thanks for reading!

James W. Does Year #2

Hey, Camp Fans!

We were elated to receive over 30 entries for our ‘Share Your Camp Story’ Contest here at Everything Summer Camp. We’re super eager to share with all our readers by publishing each one of the submissions right here on the Blog! There were seven lucky winners to our contest and everyone else who submitted received a $15 gift certificate to our website!

Today’s post is from the mother of James W., who wrote in to tell us about her son’s second camp stay for a couple weeks at Camp Yawgoog.

Check out Yawgoog if you're in the summer camp spirit! This was only the second year for my Scout to go to summer camp and his first year at sleep-a-way camp. I was a complete wreck! The one thing I did not have to worry about was how I was going to pack him up. I LOVED the trunk and am so glad I went all the way; getting all the accessories. Everything had its own place and since I had James pack it I was assured that not only would he know what he had but where he had put it. After seeing other boys with everything thrown together in one big mass of a cheap plastic tote I knew we had made the right decision. It was so easy to get everything from the car to camp and set up was a breeze. I will without a doubt be buying this all again for my youngest son when it's his turn to go. The biggest surprise of all was how my son thrived. James had a fantastic time and even had the honor of being knighted. He was one of three Webelo Scouts from his camp week that earned the title “Knight of Akela”. James was eager to volunteer for waiter duty in the mess hall and even had the privilege of carrying his camp flag in the dress parade. I don’t mind saying that this proud Momma had tears in her eyes seeing the new confidence my son earned in just one week.

Glad to hear Sir James had so much fun and the Knight of Akela honor at Camp Yawgoog! Camp certainly is a fantastic time and congratulations to the proud Momma! Check out Camp Yawgoog to see if it might be a good match for you. And, as always, thanks for reading!

Ranch You Hear Me Knockin’?

Hey, Camp Fans!

When you work with more than 270 summer camps across the nation, it means you’ve got a lot of praises to sing! We wouldn’t have it any other way here at Everything Summer Camp. It’s our pleasure to spread the word about some fantastic places you can go in order to get a proper summer camp experience. And today, we’re swinging our spotlight over to Fort Davis, Texas where we have Prude Ranch Summer Camp! You're a part of it all when you attend Prude Ranch Summer Camp!

Measuring in at 2,500 acres, this ranch is nestled in the center of the Davis Mountains. Get a true ‘Southwest’ experience at Prude Ranch where campers encounter wide open spaces, beautiful mountains, clean air, and a look at what real life is like on a ranch. Kids have loved it ever since it first began in 1967.

Boys and girls at Prude Ranch enjoy a variety of awesome summer camp activities such as Animal Life, Archery, Arts & Crafts, Basketball, Beauty Parlor, Card Games, Cheerleading, Cooking, Dodgeball, Drawing, Football, Hiking, Riflery, Roping, Swimming, Tennis, and much more. And, since Prude Ranch is indeed a working ranch, a number of their most popular activities involve horses.

In fact, Prude Ranch is special in that each camper is assigned a horse for the duration of the camp stay and responsible for the horse’s care. When pairing up campers with horses, a lot of thought is put into the process in which age and expertise (among a number of other factors) are taken into consideration.

Our groups of summer campers, be they Comanche and Apache girls or 3Bar and Triangle Bar Ranch boys, are situated in the comfortable bunkhouses. These cabins sleep 8-20 campers/cabin leaders at a time and provide their residents with multiple shower and bathroom facilities. If you think it might be a good fit for you, check out Prude Ranch Camp for your own upcoming camp experience and, as always, thanks for reading!

Australia Trivia!

G’day, Mates!

We may not have any folks working at Everything Summer Camp who are from Australia. We may not even know anybody who knows anybody who IS AustralianCroichey! Today's post is about a whole continent!. But we still wanted to observe National Australia Day because of what a cool continent it is. And so, to recognize and honor this holiday, I compiled a small list of several interesting facts about this unique continent. Check it out.

Smaller Than The U.S.
By far the smallest of the seven continents, Australia is actually even smaller than the United States! Compare the land size of Australia up against the land size of the Australia is actually just about the same size as The United States.contiguous 48 states of the U.S. and you’ll discover that Australia is a mere seven square kilometers smaller than the States.

Exclusive Ecosystem
Over 80% of plants and animals are unique only to the continent of Australia. Some of the most well-known species of native animals include the koala, kangaroo (which is on the menu in Australia, believe it or not), dingo, echidna, Imagine running into one of these guys out on the Aussie streets.platypus, wallaby, and wombat. But, aside from zoos, these creatures don’t live anywhere else on the planet.

Penal Colony
Australia was a giant penal colony back in the day. A penal colony is a remote area of land used to exile prisoners in ultimate separation from the outside world. When building its first police force, Australian government decided to hire the best behaved convicts. And though this may seem like unusual practice, this method continues to this day.

Put another shrimp on the barbie and enjoy welcoming the Australian spirit into your very beginning. We appreciate you joining us today in saluting this very interesting land—smallest of the seven continents on the planet, across the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy celebrating National Australia Day and learning more about this country-sized island. And, as always, thanks for reading!
