Hey, Camp Fans!
If you’re no rookie to this Blog, then you already know how much we love to give credit where credit is due! Which is exactly why I’m boasting about another one of the awesome camps with whom Everything Summer Camp has the pleasure of knowing—Camp Mowglis, a Summer Camp for Boys ever since 1903.
Located in the heart of New England on Newfound Lake, a little south of the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Camp Mowglis spans 125 acres of pine woods, open fields, and a far-reaching shoreline.
Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book,’ the founder of Camp Mowglis, with Kipling’s permission, of course, named programs, facilities, and activities after beloved ‘Jungle Book’ characters. The name Camp Mowglis, in fact, is taken from the man-cub protagonist himself of ‘The Jungle Book’ legend.
Baloo Cove is the Mowglis Cubs’ beach and swimming area. And you can catch your meals in the Dining Hall, attached to the back of the Jungle House. Kipling was so touched by the inspiration caused by his own story that he kept in contact with Camp Mowglis and was always interested in the development and good times generated by the camp.
During a typical day at Camp Mowglis, the campers have a structured day consisting of their own chosen ‘Industries’—which is Mowglis for ‘activities’. A seven-week camp season provides a lot of time for learning new skills that span a broad range across the physical, mental, and spiritual realms.
The Industries, including Archery, Arts & Crafts, Axemanship, Camping, Canoeing, Crew, Kayaking, Drama, Hiking, Riflery, Rowboating, Sailing, Swimming, Photography,Ttennis, Weather, Windsurfing, Woodworking, and more are all taught in small groups by staff members who have an expertise in their particular industry. After choosing their industries, the campers then work toward achieving ‘ribbons’ or ‘husky marks’ in acknowledgment of their accomplishments.
Hiking trips in the White Mountains give boys the chance to develop an appreciation for the outdoors and provide them with opportunities that teach them team work and group cooperation.
Camp Mowglis is an awesome camp where “boys are given the opportunity to be boys, but also to become young men.” Check it out for yourself right here and, as always, thanks for reading.

The original Camp Longhorn for boys has sat along the Colorado River in Burnet, Texas since 1939. In 1975, they expanded with a branch for girls, adding the Camp Longhorn Indian Springs nearby which sits on scenic property boasting two, private spring-fed lakes. And by next year, 2016, the third Longhorn branch, C3, open to boys AND girls, will sit beside Inks Lake, neighboring the original camp. Needless to say, these are very exciting times at Camp Longhorn.

Located in the beautiful woods of northern Wisconsin, Camp Agawak has 200 acres to its name—all of it heavily-wooded and adventuresome! Bordering Blue Lake, one of the purest lakes in Wisconsin, Agawak also boasts 1500 feet of sandy beach for fun waterfront activities like skiing, sailing, snorkeling, fishing, and, of course, simple swimming. And they have paddle boats and a water slide too!
There’s space indoors for gymnastics, dance, aerobics, and various games. And the Happy Camper Hall, complete with stage and costume room, is the perfect place for campers to share their abilities. Kids can be part of a production put on by the camp or put on their own production in the summer talent show or other creativity that campers would like to express.

d, I’ll talk about a deserving summer camp, B’nai B’rith Beber Camp. Read on to see this beautiful, Jewish camp in the Everything Summer Camp spotlight.
