We used to permanently attach wheels to our trunks. The trouble with permanent wheels is that with all the handling and travel trunks go through—being thrown into car trunks, shipping on airlines, being hauled around, getting stacked—the wheels tend to get damaged. And, with them being permanently attached, damaged wheels render the whole trunk useless. At some point, we questioned how we could provide wheels to our customers so they could have wheels when they wanted them and no wheels when they didn’t.

When we install the simple steel bracket of the Wheel Away System, it adds no extra height to your trunk. The wheels instantly pop on and they remove just as easily with a little tug—no tools required. Once removed, the wheels can be stored away in the handy cinch sack.

Under engineered

Needed the replacement wheels because the first et just ripped away as my son’s trunk was being wheeled across the athletic field to his bunk house. On inspection I could see that what pass for the “axel” and bushing are just simply not beefy enough. I know this replacement is not going to hold up for more than one summer either.

Nice Option for Heavy Trunks

This is a great option for moving heavy trunks around. The quality is good. The wheels work best on solid surfaces like floors, sidewalks or roads but to some extent will work on unimproved surfaces too. They can be a little hard to get off which is why I gave a 4-star review instead of 5. Putting them on requires a hard hit (kids and teens probably can't do this) and are even harder to remove and requires an especially hard hit at an off-center point which was not easy for an adult male. Still a great addition but I'd recommend have a screwdriver handy or other prying device when it comes time to remove them. Additional cycles may make the on/off transition easier, as this is feedback from just one cycle.

Damaged

Hi one of the trunks does not align well. The top is a bit to one side making it hard to close. I had not noticed until I finished packing and tried to close it. It is to late to do anything now. Because they start camp on Sunday. I hope it does not break.

A personalized trunk that will last forever!

It’s a very well built trunk, nice and sturdy and was built quickly and mailed efficiently as I ordered kind of late but received it in time for my granddaughters camp. Only thing negative I ordered a sticker with her name on it and that did not arrive. But the trunk my grand will have forever!
